Keyboard 1 & 2

This newly-released title from TRW Licensing is sure to be a hit—especially for many regional theatre companies who may not have the budget for custom keyboard programming. Since TRW does not yet offer a synth programming rental package for this show, we offer ready-made MainStage concert files for both of the keyboard parts in the orchestration.

The Keyboard 2 book is heavily programmed and calls for dozens of patches that are essential to re-creating the iconic sound of these 1970s favorites. Just to name a few:

• Unmistakable disco string lines, such as in “I Will Survive” and the title song, “Never Can Say Goodbye”
• High-energy brass sections, like in “Brick House” and the new-and-improved “Name Game”
• Groovy organs in songs like “Lady Marmalade” and “An Old-Fashioned Love Song”
• Several auxiliary guitar patches, from the acoustic country twang of “Amie” to the hard rock of “Crazy On You”—even the pedal steel lick from the intro to “D-I-V-O-R-C-E”!
• Iconic analog-era synth sounds, like the filter sweep pad and auto-triggered bass line in “Heart of Glass”, the searing square lead from “Magic Man”, not to mention a fun excerpt from “Electric Boogie”!

Many of these sounds have been built from scratch using stock MainStage plug-ins like RetroSynth. They have been carefully researched to match the original recordings, while also reflecting the adaptations called for in these specific arrangements by George Luton.

The Keyboard 1 book (played by the conductor) has less programming and consists mainly of piano sounds, but it does also include some synthesizer patches and auxiliary instruments. We also include a few different piano sounds, to better reflect the vibe of the original records.

The Keyboard 1 and Keyboard 2 files are available as a single package. A valid licensing agreement from TRW Licensing for your specific production is required as a condition of rental, and pricing is based on the length of your run and the nature of the engagement (professional vs. amateur, school, etc.). Most customers can expect pricing between $350–$500.
